In concordance many ancient Buddhist texts, no one could be compared to Siddhartha Gautama. During the primeval times in which Buddhism was created, people have always referred to Siddhartha Gautama, or Buddha, as their god. Buddha toiled though many events in his life to earn the respect that he much so deserves. Through experiences in his early life, teaching the Buddhist religion, and acquiring an enormous reputation, Siddhartha Gautama became one of the most famous religious leaders the world had ever known.
Buddha's early life had a great impact on how his role in the world played itself out. Born into a royal line of kings and queens, Siddhartha never saw life outside of his palace. He was never aware of the sickness and suffering that the rest of the world experienced right outside the palace walls. In spite of his father's disapproval, Siddhartha left his palace at age 29 in order to see his subjects. His father, King Suddhodana, secretly ordered all the poor, ill, and dying people to be removed from the streets so his son could experience the full beauty of his realm. One man was forgotten. Siddhartha saw him and didn't know what to do. Everyone was shocked. Siddhartha left his palace in order to find a way to overcome his ignorance, and more importantly find a way out of death; so marking the first idea that was soon to be Buddhism.
After learning from many wise teachers, Siddhartha decided to share his newly acquired knowledge with the world. After meditating for 49 days straight, Siddhartha, now known as Buddha, received enlightenment. He could now see the truth that he had for so long, sought to overcome. He began teaching how to overcome old age, sickness, depression, and even death. Buddha was later visited by divine spirits who told him to teach Dharma to the people. Then, at age 80, Buddha knew that he was about to pass into the next world. He spent the rest of his life preparing for this journey. In the eyes of his followers, Buddha led a very productive and prosperous life.
Buddhism continued to spread and Siddhartha became known as a great religious leader with an even greater reputation among Buddhist followers. He became known as the Supreme Buddha. People mused over the fact that he looked like a god and that he was of divine origin. Buddha also founded a community of Buddhist monks and nuns that would spread this new religious throughout the four corners of the earth. People respected Siddhartha Gautama with all the respect that they had to offer.
