The sound of Christmas songs and carols fill the air. Reminding us it’s Christmas time once again. There’s more traffic and congestion everywhere; on the highways, at the shopping malls and grocery stores, and the post office. People seem happier - and some seem more stressed - as daily activities escalate to a near frenzy. It’s a busy time all right; the busiest time of the year,
Yes. It’s Christmas again. There are reminders everywhere of the Babe of Bethlehem; of heralding angels; mystified shepherds, and diligent wise men. Reminders of the birth of Christ: The real reason for the season, as the slogan goes.
For many, all they see is the warm wonderful vision of a newborn baby and those who gather around Him to adore and worship Him. It’s a wondrous story for certain.
But how many see the faint silhouette of a cross overshadowing the manger? Are we so busy, being busy, at Christmas time to forget the Savior came to fulfill the will of the Father, not to live but to die, that all men, everywhere might gain eternal life to live with Him by accepting Him, who was so willing to sacrifice His life on that cross overshadowing the manger?
This is why Christians celebrate His birth with extreme joy and gladness, because there was always a cross overshadowing the manger.
