A Higher Calling

A Christian youth center in the community.

The dim glow of the black light contrasts greatly with the brightness of the rest of the club.

There are crowds of people gathered there. Some play pool, some drink soda at the concession stand, many more gather close to hear the beautiful Christian music coming through the speakers.

They invite friends and family and the fellowship and ministry begins.

On a friday or saturday night this is a better place to be than most.It is a Christian youth club.

This place is called the Grounds. It is not your average friday night club, no alcohol is permitted.

Most people might think "a club without alcohol?" and yes, this place is exactly that. So what makes this club different from your average club on a friday or saturday night? The Grounds is a safe haven for the Christian youth of the city I live in to come and fellowship with people without the negative influences of most clubs.

Years ago, when I was about thirteen, the Grounds was called club 180, it endured hardships however when the owner decided to use the property for something else.I was about sixteen then. Needless to say Club 180 needed a new building. We had no way of knowing it would take three years before we found one suitable.

We knew God would supply our needs in His timing, so we waited in faith

It did happen, and after much hard work and renovation, the youth club I had grown to love was reopened at its new location and renamed The Grounds. The people there are great,

The main focus at the Grounds however is Jesus Christ and the ministry to which we are called.

I believe the Grounds if it keeps its focus clear will open new doors of out reach in my community.

While most clubs seek to please the flesh, we have a deeper calling, to minister to the souls.

All prayers are greatly appreciated,

thank you and God Bless you all.

Jupiter, I just read this content! So full of everything we have thirst for - and you did not have to mention His name, Jesus, to know of whom the light came shining through darkness! Superb example of great writing to get the gospel out to all . . . who will hear . . .!
