A Life of Rest

God, in all His glorious riches, has so much for us, but we must embrace and receive it. We must rest in Him.

"For all the promises of God in Him (Jesus) are yea, and in Him Amen, unto the glory of God by us." (2 Corinthians 1:20 KJV)
"For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their yes [answer] in Him (Jesus). For this reason we also utter the Amen (So Be It) to God through Him [in His person and by His agency] to the glory of God." (Amplified Bible)
"For all the promises of God find their yes in Him (Jesus). That is why we utter the Amen through Him to the glory of God." (Revised Standard Version)

Our religious systems train us to follow a works-based Christianity which implies that in order to please God, we must do certain things, perform a certain way, and sometimes even wear certain attire that projects holiness. All of these things are useless without Christ Jesus changing us on the inside. We need Him to conform us into His image instead of us taking on the image of what we think is holy. The traditions of men have put such a burden on Christians that they have left many good people jaded, confused, burnt out, or even angry at God. When Jesus calls us, however.

He says:
"Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:28-30 Revised Standard Version; see also Jeremiah 6:16)

The Lord desires a relationship with us that goes far beyond what our fleshly works can achieve. Our works-based mentality is just like the law of the old testament with all of its meticulous regulations; but the law of the old testament with all the sacrifices and rules was only a shadow of Christ, and not Christ Himself (Hebrews 10:1), because the Word (John 1:1-14) had not yet become flesh. Now, our High Priest has come, and we have access to the father and His promises by Christ. Our constant fleshly efforts to get The Lord's approval will never allow us to walk into the destiny that He has planned in His heart for us. If we could begin to realize that Jesus Christ is the once-for-all sacrifice and propitiation for sin (1 John 2:2), then we would be able to utter our Amen to God through Christ.
