Often in life we hit a slump or come to a dead end, nothing we touch is working, nothing goes right for us and then misery and despair set in. As a born again Christian I believe firmly in seeking first the Kingdom of God and all else shall follow according to his riches and glory. God's word cannot lie so my advice is when things are tough get on your knees and pray. Read the Bible, read Christian material and watch TBN, do whatever you can in order to get a word from God. Speaking from experience this has often happened to me and that is what I do. Usually one of two (or both) of these messages will come to me from God. “Be still and know that I am God!” I usually get this when I have been questioning God.
The other message is “I want to do a new thing” Initially I used to struggle with this, being a self confessed control freak I could not let go and let God move in my life. God never forces himself upon you, you have choice and however the sooner you submit to His will the sooner he can start to bless you. Once you have submitted to his will, continue to pray and seek him, but do not curl up into a little ball and wait on him to the exclusion of all else! Ever heard the expression” God helps those who help themselves?”
Another one I like is “You can pray for the light to go on, however you have to get up and switch the light on” I am speaking literally of course. Sometimes we can be so focused on God that we actually miss His message, we miss His purpose in our lives. We need to keep our ears and eyes open and interact with people to hear His message. God uses people to deliver His message, miracles and blessings. Get out from under the covers and keep vigilant!
