Anger Management From the Bible

Have you ever wanted to do something besides count to 10 when you're angry? Here are two Bible based quotes that can change your outlook, if you say them out loud.

One of the simplest methods ever found to automatically reduce feelings of anger is to "speak" words of wisdom into a situation. But speaking these words aloud is not enough. In order for them to take affect, you must focus on what you're saying and the meaning behind it, only then will a change take place.

The best part is, this method doesn't cost a cent and you can use it for any situation at anytime anger is present.

Either of the following quotes can and should be spoken aloud over and over during the midst of your anger - if the object of your anger is present and hears you, they won't know what to say or how to react!

"He who angers you conquers you". Sister Elizabeth Kenny

"He who angers you controls you". An unknown philosopher

Both quotes can be traced back to Proverbs 14:29

He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly (KJV)

A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly. (NIV)
He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, But he who is impulsive exalts folly. (NKJV)

So be alert for the next instance in which you find yourself becoming annoyed or angry at something trivial or unimportant, then practice letting go. Make a conscious choice not to become angry or upset.

Do not allow yourself to waste thought and energy where it isn't deserved and "speak" words of wisdom into the situation.

The benefit of controlling anger…wisdom! Proverbs 29:11

A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards. (KJV)

A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control. (NIV)
A fool vents all his feelings, but a wise man holds them back. (NKJV)

(KJV) King James Version
(NIV) New International Version
(NKJV) New King James Version
