Hello, I want to get straight to the point on some of the beliefs of the Baptist church. For reference i am using a NIV bible
First, faith only saves correct? Then why can you find in a Bible, in James,
"What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, 'Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,' but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?" 2:14-16
this obviously shows here that "faith without works is dead" and it will not save you
Second, the role of John the Baptist in the church. John's name was not because he was more special than others, it reflected his role, what he did only. Baptise is immersing someone in water, so he could just as easily been named John the Immerser, would you then be in the Immerser church?
Thirdly, the importance of baptism. You may say that baptism is not essential, is not needed for salvation. Well in Acts 2, it reads:
"Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." Acts 2:38
He did not say repent or be baptized as you will, he said and, and he only said you shall receive the holy Spirit after baptism
Fourth of all, a major issue is "once saved always saved" this is simply not true, as is stated in the Bible.
"You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace." Galations 5:4
You can see here that it is possible for one to become unsaved
"holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith. Among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan to be taught not to blaspheme." 1 Timothy 1:19-20
here it shows there are two men who were saved, but rejected Jesus and now are doomed to torment.
"If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed onto them." 2 Peter 2:20-21
It is even said here that it is worse to have fallen from grace than to have never found it in the first place.
Lastly, music in the Church is a HUGE issue as many know. Here are some scriptures as to what should be done in Church
"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord. Ephesians 5:19
Now know that at the time of Jesus there were plenty of instruments that could have been played, yet they were not. What better example can we take than from the early church, who we use as an example?
"Let the word of Christ dwell in your richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God." Colossians 3:16
There is that same text again, if we read it twice do you think it might be a bit important? The Lord is trying to tell us something here, he knows how important that bit of scripture is. Now, it clearly states here that the Lord wants us to make music in our hearts. When you want to use instruments, who are you trying to please, God or yourself?
In Conclusion, really the only true arguments for anything are scripture, i have presented multiple ones, it is now up to you to choose what you want to believe.
This is all i have to say, so thank you for reading and I hope it helped you
God bless
