Beatitudes

I have heard some stuff about being poor in Spirit, and as far as I can tell, its meaning of poor is basically saying that you are not proud and humble your spirit before God, saying that you need him because your spirit it poor. A lot of people don't really get this one because they don't understand how he is using the word "poor."

While listening to people talk about the beatitudes, they usually talk about the first couple then skip to the end.

However, I think that the ones are the middle are quite important as well. For instance, hungering and thirsting for righteousness. So many times I feel like I can't find righteousness in the midst of things going on, and that it will always elude my grasp, but Christ clearly says that if I truly want to be holy then I will receive holiness.

I also think that the end of the 13 verses is good encouragement for Christians, especially in places where the Bible is illegal. But in order to go to a place like that the people had to have already known about this kind of stuff.

This also very directly applies to us, living in the comfort of our homes. For me especially, I need to do the right thing for the sake of Jesus and not bother about what people think about me, because I will be bless if I follow the Word.
