Romans 10:9 says that if you say that Jesus is Lord with your mouth and believe it with your heart you will be saved. Jesus said in Matt 10:32 (KJV) “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.”
In our conquest to bring someone to Jesus these are two of the scriptures can be used to bring people to Jesus. So people can have eternal life and go to heaven. One way is to just have the person say “Jesus is my lord” in front of you and / or in front of other witnesses. You can also have the person say the same thing as you pray with them. I was at a bible study one time and this one person wanted to accept Jesus Christ into their life and serve him. The Bible teacher told this person that all he had to do is say “Jesus Christ is my Lord” and he would receive Jesus into his life and have eternal life. When the person said it with all of his heart the spirit of the Lord came into his life in such a special way that his faced just glowed with the presence of God. You could actually see it on his face. It was so powerful.
As people say “Jesus is my Lord” you need to explain to them what they are doing. From the point of confessing his lordship Jesus is becoming the master of their life. It is like crossing a line in the sand. One side is their life without Jesus and the other side is their life with Jesus. It is not just a onetime decision but in is a whole new lifestyle. At the point of crossing the line the father God sends the Holy Spirit into their spirit and they get what the Bible calls “born again”. Their life literally changes. 2 Cor 5:17 (KJV) says “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.”
If you are reading this article and want this born again experience you can have it. You must be sincere. You must really want Jesus Christ to be the total master of your life. Then you must tell someone that you have made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life. As you do the father God will send you his Holy Spirit into your spirit. From that point on you must totally follow Christ. Jesus said “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.” Matt 10:32 (KJV) Then you must pray and ask God to show you a good church to go to so you can grow in him. Read your Bible and pray to God every chance you get. Start with the New Testament. This will also help you grow in Christ.
