Many people seem to believe in the Bible these days. Many others wonder why they believe in that lie. And many more criticize how effective and how much of it is true. For instance, were Adam and Even monkeys, or were they like us. What about archaeological findings? Don't most of us know and agree about the cavemen? And a lot of us seem to believe the ridiculous Big Bang Theory, when in fact it is called a theory. But the Bible asserts and assumes that all of its words, from the beginning of Genesis to the last verse of Revelations, are true and precise.
Many things I am not well equipped to justify. The Bible is a tricky and hard book to understand, and just reading it alone, regardless of how many times you read it over, does not mean much. In fact, some people who have read only parts of the Bible understand more about their faith than others who read all of it. That might be surprising, but it's true.
Many people within the Christian faith are divided by certain views and ideas, and how the Bible is interpreted. For instance, Jehovah Witnesses believe that hell is just the common grave, while many Protestants and Catholics believe that it does exist. On which side does the evidence weigh? Recent archeological findings might better answer that question for you, perhaps.
It was December 1993 when Alvin sank in the Pacific Ocean to inspect a recently formed hydrothermal vent, an opening at the ocean floor where toxic gas is release, and lava leaks out onto the surface. What those scientists found could suit as evidence towards the fact that hell does exist. However, another question comes along, “where is hell?”
The divers where astonished at what they saw. It was a large number of four-foot worms with tails firmly planted on the ocean floor. While the popular belief was that nothing could live in such harsh environment, very high temperatures and in the presence of many toxic gases, the evidence was still there.
Also, along the see floor near the crack, they found other worms of different types and texture.
By now, you might wonder, what does any of this has to do with the Bible, and how is that supporting the idea that hell exists? Mark 9:46 reads, “where THEIR WORM dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Back then, did they have the technology to go underwater? How then would Jesus have known about those worms that live under the ocean near the ocean floor? So, if that is evidence, does that mean hell is inside the earth?
Numbers 16:32-33 says “and THE EARTH OPENED HER MOUTH, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained to Korah, and all their goods. They and all that appertained to them, went down alive INTO THE PIT, and THE EARTH CLOSED UPON THEM.”
If then, can you hear the torments of the damned from a volcano, since it is an opening in the earth? According to Caspar Peucer, a fourteenth century astronomer who conducted some research on volcano eruptions at Heklafell, you can pretty much. “Out of the bottomless abyss of Heklafell, or rather out of hell itself, rise melancholy cries and loud wailings, so that these can be heard for many miles around…there maybe heard in the mountain fearful howling, weeping and gnashing of teeth,” he recorded. But before you say that this is just one man's crazy mumble jumble, many others believed that they have heard such noise.
So, does than mean that everyone else who does not know Christ will end up in hell? Frankly, I do not know. But God is a God of mercy. I don't know how His mercy works in that case, but the Bible always says that it's worse if you've know Him and depart form him than if you've never know about Him at all.
Hell is real and inevitable for those who die without the Lord Christ. With that said, do not wait, and find out whether or not the Bible is real. Just pick it up and read it, and look up some verses, or talk it over with friends or a pastor. Moreover, you will be surprise how practical it is in today's world.
