Do Christian's Have Authority Over Disease

Do you suffer with a disease or sickness inherited from your parents? this article will show you how you can have authority over those weaknesses.

Some Christians in the worldwide church today have taken on this bizarre idea that God gives disease to make us better Christians. Every word of this statement is false. Or that because our physical weaknesses/ailments are inherited from our parents, we have to live with them. This is a lie straight from the pit of hell, and has Satan's fingerprints all over it.

When we think about Heaven what do you see? What do you feel? What does it say in Scripture about Heaven and God's nature? There will be no sickness and disease all of our tears will be washed away. There will be no loneliness, no sadness, no mourning and no death, and that's just a few mentioned. The very nature and fiber of God is love, He can only give to us what he has, His inheritance right? So He can not give disease, it is impossible. This means that when we are redeemed by Christ's death and acknowledge that He is Lord we then have full rights to pray for complete healing for those who are sick, and believe whole heartedly that they will be healed. Lets looks at the passage of scripture where Jesus teaches us to pray.

Matthew 6:9-13 NIV
9"This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
11Give us today our daily bread.
12Forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

Verse 10 says "Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." What does that mean? Kingdom means the "king's domain", and Heaven is the King's domain, so when we pray the way Jesus taught us to pray we are praying that anyone who is sick be healed whether you believe healing is for today or not. The verse doesn't say "your Kingdom come your will be done, for this time, but not for the future". This may sound silly, but people have created doctrine over this idea, and its all because of a lack of trust in the Heavenly Father, and a lack of knowing Him intimately. His character never changes, He is the same yesterday, today and forever. It is His will that everyone be healed. Jesus' death on the cross was not just for forgiveness of sins. By neglecting our authority over sickness and disease we are denying that Jesus' body was broken, and if we believe it was broken, then what was it broken for? What purpose was he tortured and killed brutally on a cross?

Isaiah 53:5 NIV says

5 But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was upon him,
and by his wounds we are healed.

Therefore Jesus' death was 4 fold, he was pierced for our transgressions (our sins), he was crushed for our iniquities (sickness and disease, iniquities are our weaknesses), he was afflicted with torment (punishment) and by his wounds we are healed.

If you are interested in learning more on the power and authority children of God have through Jesus' death on the cross, I would recommend the book "When Heaven Invades Earth" by Bill Johnson.
