Does God Command Us to Use Our Talents?

Making use of your God-given abilities.

Yes. In Matthew 25, starting with verse 15, we find the story of the talents, a word meaning coins. Three servants were each given various amounts of money. Two servants used their money and they increased. The third servant feared the repercussions if he returned to his master with less money than he had been entrusted with, or worse yet, none at all. So he hid his talents until the master returned.

“Do you not know that I reap where I have not sown?” demanded the master. “You could have at least placed these coins in a bank and let them earn interest for me.” For being afraid to try, he was cast out and rejected.

The lesson here is that God expects us to use the skills and abilities He has given us as best we can and trust Him to do good with them.
