Fear the Lord
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Jeremiah 4:5-10 Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defense cities. Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not; for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction. The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant. For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us. And it shall come to pass at that day, smith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! Surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul.
Jeremiah 4: 17-26
As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD. Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart. My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war. Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet? Whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment. For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge. I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.
The reasons to fear the Lord first off is For our sins we bring the fear of the Lord on ourselves,
We bring fear on ourselves, we are disobedient , and the greater good.
Now to begin a lot of people have been asked the question or have asked the question why does the Lord allow bad things to happen to good people? Before I answer this question it must first be pointed out that Jesus Christ himself did not see himself as being good. Saying in Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God. Secondly what exactly is considered bad? Now some people may consider not having any money or struggling to survive or having some kind of sickness to be bad well this isnt bad at all. Youre still alive with the opportunity to worship the Lord. The only bad thing should be recognized as not having an opportunity to worship the Lord dead and hell ready. The reason I say that we bring the fear of the Lord on ourselves is because some of dont know how to act unless we are struggling or we are poor or we have some kind of sickness. Because for the simple fact when we are in trouble who do we call on? When ever we need something the first word out our mind is LORD I need you, I need the money for this and I need this and this and this. But when we have the things that we need we find ourselves not going to the Lord as much. We tend to use those things that we need and want so badly and forget about God. Showing those needs and wants more attention or putting those things before God. In Exodus 20: 1-6 the God demands worship and announce himself as being a jealous God. Saying,
And God spake all these words, saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: Ex. 34.17Lev. 19.4 ; 26.1Deut. 4.15-18 ; 27.15 for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Ex. 34.6 , 7Num. 14.18Deut. 7.9 , 10 .
