God Is Now Here

To understand the greatness of God's knowledge, we find ourselves overwhelmed. But this nothing to apologize for, because wonder and worship are the proper responses to the glorious attributes of God.

The atheist wrote on the chalkboard: "GOD IS NOWHERE." But a Christian used an eraser and made a significant change, so it read: "GOD IS NOW HERE." The theologians call this omnipresence: God is present everywhere at all times.

Omniscience is the theological word for God's knowledge, and it simply means that God knows everything. What does God actually know about us? He knows what we do, our "downsittings" and "uprisings". This refers to the daily activities of life. He knows what we think, and He knows it even before we think it! God also knows where we go. God knows what we say, and like our thoughts, He knows our words before we speak them. God tries our hearts and knows even our motives that lie behind our words. This explains why we must constantly pray, "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer."

Finally, God knows what we need, and therefore, He keeps His guiding and restrainting hand on us. Dr. G. Campbell Morgan, the great expositor, once said, "When all of my attempts at exegesis fail, I worship." A vision of God ought to give us a burning heart, not a big head.
