I went to chior rehersal last Friday and I was presented with this statement: "I thought I knew Jesus, but I was wrong."
Now there was a discussion that took place prior to that statement however that does not matter right now. The thing that matters is simply this. JESUS IS MORE RADICAL THAN WE LIKE TO THINK. I mean when you sit down and think about the kind of people Jesus kicked it with...I think most of us would be offended.
I mean really just think about the the people. Jesus was kickin' it with poor people, sick people, prostitutes...I mean he was with some really "LOW" people! So now when you sit and look at yourself and you think you are doing the work of CHRIST...think again. Who is your ministry? Do you only hang around people that look like you, act like you, talk like you, smell like you? Most of us think when we look at ourselves we think we have a little bit and we get stuck on the wrong things...we are stuck on who we need to keep out of our "clicks". We are so busy passing judgement on each other that we often forget to pray for each other. We forget to offer kind words. We don't take time to reflect on the blessings we have while we are so busy complaining about what we don't have. I made a shirt and I think I need to wear it more...it simply says "IF GOD HAD BEEN GOOD TO YOU...ACT LIKE IT!"
We make these jokes mocking Christianity...we get so turned off by "church people"...but don't you know that you are the CHURCH...
If you have to talk about people...do it in prayer.
I mean really...watch yourself...and really ask yourself...WHAT WOULD JESUS DO? He was RADICAL! So when you are turning your nose up at homosexuals, homeless people, people of another race, people from another country, people from different social classes, people with AIDS, people with CANCER, old people, children who are sick...think about it...In the grand scheme of things...I think if you have a hard time dealing with any of these people...
JESUS WOULD OFFEND YOU.
