Unbelievers have been confused by pretentious people parading as men of God, or loose Christians defending their loose ways. This article argues for who a Christian is, and directs those who doubt to find out from a genuine source.
To me, Christianity is about faith in Christ, nothing else. Others think this is nothing short of delusion, near madness - insane. Well, I don't blame them. With all the noise about loose men of God, their devious ways and corrupt practices, it wouldn't be totally wrong to think likewise. But I wouldn't be too hasty about that if I were them. To cast as silly, the practices of true Christians, because of a few loud, notorious pretenders, is tantamount to being fallacious, in some regard.
To some people, especially those drunk on the sanctity of the empirical process, everything must be thus verifiable, with the proper tenets of science attended to. In all honestly, science is not a faith thing: It is man's ideal quest to search for truths man's way; Christianity, on the flipside, is all about FAITH IN CHRIST.
And when you give in to defeating personal interests, like we witness today, we'd have all manner of people, and all sorts of doctrines are being bandied about as Christian. Let me repeat: Christ is the author and finisher of our faith! If it's not about Christ or faith in him, it certainly isn't Christian. And, if it is Christian, it is in the Holy Word of God - The Bible - and what in context it teaches, not the taunts of a section or group of loose Christians set on a personal agenda to establish itself, to be famous outside the fabric of Christianity. Too many cooks pretending to be chefs of the Lord in the body of Christ, too many bad recipes, thereof.
I have nothing against science; it happens to be man's genuine attempt to explain things around him. And science has helped man achieve a lot of wonderful things, no doubt about that. In all it's glory, however, science is unable to explain how Christians effortlessly, in a process called miracles archive such as these: the deaf hear; the crippled, by the power of God oozing out of His servant's hand, stand up and walk; the blind, experiencing the power of God, in the form of a servant of God's hand on their face, see; the mentally deprived, by a simple touch around the temple area, are similarly able to use their faculties, something hitherto unknown to them, etc.
There are so many miracles that beat the imagination of unbelievers, so much that, unscrupulous others, in want of cheap fame and easy glory, are going about deceiving many that they too could do likewise, using the Bible's words vainly, giving unbelievers, non-faith people, some people of the scientific world, as well, enough evidence to seem want to think that Cristianity is ranting stupidly against established wisdom. I disagree.
It is true that man's quest for the truths of this world have in no small ways been helped by science. Come on, we all use airplanes and all the latest technology, even this computer, the softwares that enable you to read my writings - life has also been aided a great deal by this wonderful process. Much to it's credit, true science is in the hands of experienced, well-groomed scholars who adopt the scientific process, somethng that helps in chalking success after success: going to the Moon, advanced technology among others.
Much as nobody would trust a half-baked scientist's assertion of things, it is important also to discount the rantings of pretentious people that stroll around as pastors and prophets, deceiving many - loose cannons. By their works these people are known. They accept things that Christ doesn't identify with; they corrupt the minds of their congregation with half-baked truths; they use the Grace of God in these times selfishly, deceiving many an afflicted mind, especially those that are unable to discern spiritually, those who do not have the least idea what it is to be Christian, people who take as gospel the words of anyone who holds a Bible..
Such people who give Christianity a bad name are only in the business of things for the booty: these shouldn't be trusted! Unfortunately, the many such that give Christianity the bad name seem to be the only people unbelievers and those without our confessed faith in Jesus Christ use to vilify genuine Christians, make them seem unpardonable fools, lost to anything rational, anything sane.
It beats me why anyone who seems to apply a careful, scientific process, one that takes the best sources of things to conduct research, would want to use such inferior sources of Christians to make an argument.
I'd want to add, for the benefit of the disbelieving public, all those atheist, and post-atheist, that there are others within their ranks that have faith - absolute faith - in Christ Jesus, understanding the place of our Saviour in their lives, as well as the place of Science in theirs. As them why they believe. If I cannot make you believe or understand, maybe they could bring the saneness of being Christian home.
Be that as it may, we could ascertain who a Christian is, not by how many times everyone attends a religious-duty-turned-social-gathering every Sunday, although attending a religious service is important, part of being Christian, but by what manner of faith he or she possesses in Christ. So for purposes of making an argument, I would recommend that we look at one man, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, and his works at Christ Embassy, as he calls it. Anyone who wants knowledge from or about Christ Jesus, and is tired of the taunting and the deception of half-baked pastors and pretentious Christians should visit www.christembassy.org, paying special attention to the works of this man of God, his views on Christianity, his interpretation of the Holy Bible.
Here's a man of faith you can trust, both in deeds and words, and also, by how he unravels, through the power of God, the true message God's Word, the Holy Bible, teaches. Non-faith people, and all doubting others, try this man, and witness first hand what being Christian is all about. Try Pastor Chris!
Let's see whether you'd still believe being Christian is gullible, dumb even.
Where do I start...I think it\'s important to clarify a couple of things. I\'m a Christian and a scientist. Christianity is a faith in Christ, that you it right. Science tries to explain the unknowns and improve lives. Science, my friend, is a branch of knowledge based on objectivity and involving observation and experimentation. No one said it was a faith thing, as you put it. We are logical beings, it only natural that our answers that we seek are logical.
True, science can\'t explain miracles but there are many things that science explains every well. There is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to find out about the origin of life (sadly, that isn\'t my area of scientific research or interest). We are naturally curious to find out about how things around us work. As you mentioned, there are now airplanes, TVs, these technology has enhanced out lives. We are living longer due to better foods and medicines, not evolution (I must make this clear). I have a friend in a wheelchair; he’s a Christian and has been to many prayer camps – trying to walk again. His faith in the Lord is immense but he is still not walking. Why is it that miracles don’t happen to all? You might say it’s the same with drugs; some are effective with other while the rest don’t see any change at all but think about ratios and proportions. How many people respond well to a drug compared to how many miracles happen in a day. A scientific miracle takes years to happen – like the bionic eyes, I believe regeneration will happen. You don’t need faith to be able to see or get your arm back.
True religion is real living; living with all one\'s soul, with all one\'s goodness and righteousness. You can\'t just blame false prophets and pastors for the bad imagine of Christianity. How many Christians abide or follow the rules and regulations of the Bible? They have pre-marital sex, have countless affairs and get drunk at parties. Let\'s not be hypocrites here, we know what modern “Christians” get up to! People are old and wiser now, they\'re not corrupted by the half-baked truths -as you put- but by the lifestyles of the-so-called-born-again Christians. We all know the truth of the Bible, but do we practice them on daily basis?
I\'ll leave you to think about this, maybe even write about it: I\'m challenged as to why the Bible makes no mention of dinosaurs? I don\'t believe in the theory of evolution or the string theory or the big bang or any nonsense of that sort though. There are bones and fossils to prove their existence. Some are believed to have existed 40 millions years ago but the Bibles makes us believe that the earth is only 6000 years old. Would you like to comment on this?
One last thing, being intelligent I believe is having the capability to communicate to all, where they all understand you. Some of your sentences were hard to understand, ambiguous and made it slightly uncomfortable to read! I hope you get what I mean!
