Jehovah Jireh: The Lord That Provides

The God of the Bible is an awesome Being. When it comes down to the human mind trying to conceive His Fullness, it can not be done.

There is so much to Him, He effects our lives in so many ways that are not seen, that are not understood.

God knows our human intellect can not comprehend His Greatness, His Personal Love for each of us. That's why His Son died and His Spirit is given as a Seal, so that a relationship can form, read Ephesians 4:30.

One of the ways that God helps us to see His reality and how He wants to be a part of our personal life, is through the meaning of His different names. For this article, let's concentrate on the name “Jehovah-Jireh”, meaning, The Lord who Provides.

This form of God's name appears in Genesis 22:13-14, “And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind his a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-Jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen.”

To read of the life of Abraham, go to Genesis 11-25:1-8. Through out Abraham's life, God made a number of promises to him, the fulfillment of those promises was based on Abraham believing God or not. When you read about his life, he believed everything that God told him, even those things that seemed impossible to do. What seems impossible right now in your personal life? For Abraham, he was promised a child at a very old age, to be exact, he was 99 years old when the promise was made, his wife Sarah was 90 years old, read Genesis 17. When the two first heard of the promise, they each laughed to themselves, because of their age. In return, God told them to name their child Isaac, meaning laughter. For you the reader, what seems so impossible in your personal life, that it is almost comical?

Realize a truth, God has given you His Kingdom to own; and everything that makes it up on this Earth and in Heaven, is yours to claim. As an individual believer, you must see that God will provide the impossible for you.

Truly understand the life of Abraham, why he is the Father of Faith. Through him, God shows us all, that nothing is impossible for Him to do; if we believe in the promise He's made to us, relating to that particular situation. Today we have the complete Scripture, filled with over 7,000 promises, which are meant to be lived on this Earth, not in Paradise. When we enter God's Kingdom, everything is going to be taken care of; but while we are down here on the Earth, those promises are meant to be hoped, confessed and then experienced, read Joshua 1:8-9.

Is God to small in your mind to deliver you from certain failure, sadness, uncertainty? Or do you see God as Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord that Provides? The written Word contains the hopes that God has for those that have accepted His Son, Jesus; and like Abraham, He wants us to believe in them. Realize that Abraham and his wife made mistakes, they were very impatient and it got them into trouble, effecting future generations to come. In the end, it was the promises of God that they stood upon -- the end result, the nations of the World were blessed forever; and eternal life with God was made available to all of those who believed.

Stand on God's Word and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you (Conscience), don't let your feelings or human emotions get so established in your life, that the things of God are impossible to believe. Your human spirit will deceive you; marriages have broken up over them, because the situation seemed to big to handle. Friendships have been lost, spiritual peace and rest is taken away -- because of the things that seem impossible for God to handle.

In your prayers call out to God, tell Him that you know one of His Names and that Name is Jehovah-Jireh, the Lord that Provides. Let this reality be renewed in your thinking, then watch the flood gates of Heaven open on your behalf, fulfilling all that you need, until you have no wants spiritually, read Ephesians 4:23; Romans 12:1-2. Yet, it all starts with this one truth, Do You Believe In The Promises Of God, no matter how much your situation contradicts what is written? Read Isaiah 55. Is God the answer for yourself through His Word, or your own intellect? The answer you give yourself will determine the spiritual peace you walk in, and you personally being able to see the Hand of God Providing on your behalf.
