Listen, and Wait on God

An inspirational take on life.

I've just recently realized what life is all about. It took me 26 years and becoming a new Christian to figure it out. When I was a teenager, I remember having these perfect plans for my future, plans that I was very optimistic about. I wanted to make my "dreams" come true. Life seems to have a lot of unexpected turns, doesn't it? Most of the time life doesn't turn out the way we planned. Ever since I was a little girl I just knew in my heart that I was made for a reason, that I was made to do something special someday. I realized that everyone on the earth is given special gifts, but not everyone realizes what those gifts are. I also realized that you don't have to be someone famous, or be someone with a super career to make a difference in the world. When I would feel like a failure because of the things in my life that I could have done, or should have done, I try to think about the accomplishments I have made, and the lessons I have learned in the life that is "real" and "now". I know now that God creates everyone with a special gift to be used for His glory. It's whether or not you listen and hear God, to figure out what the gift is. God knows us before we are even born, He writes out the book of our lives for us. Psalm 139: 13-16 says " For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them. That is really awesome to know that everyone is a "somebody", everyone was made for a special reason, and with that He will be glorified. If you feel depressed and you just don't understand what on earth you are here for, just remember that everyone is a child of God, and you were created for a reason. It took me a lot of crying, suffering, pain, and unhappiness to realize that I couldn't do it myself, I couldn't make myself happy, only God can. It took me changing a lot of things in my life, and trusting in God to lead me, to actually figure this out. We need to trust in God, pray to God, and be patient enough to wait on Him. Everything may be crazy and hectic around me in my life, and not how I ever planned it would be, but I finally feel peace inside me knowing that God is working, right this very second He is working on the plans He has for me and my family. He is also working on yours too.

Just have faith, and caring family and friends around you in times of need. When you feel like everything is going wrong, that means He is working right now to make things right. If it wasn't for my family and the Christian friends God put in my life, I don't know what I'd be doing right now. When you hear the phrase " that must have happened for a reason" it's true, the reason is to get you closer to God and to His plan for you. Everyone has had a time in life that was painful, and sometimes people wonder why God would let that happen, some people turn away from God and resent Him, but everything that we go through in our lives, good or bad, happens so that God can teach us, or so we may be able to help others in return. Painful things that happen to us in our lives actually make us stronger in the end. I've learned firsthand about growing stronger in life. Having a baby and getting married at the age of 18 made me have to grow up really quick, giving birth to a baby with pierre robin syndrome and almost loosing her 3 times has given me faith I've never had before, and being saved at 25 years old and having that feeling of being born again, the renewing of my life and soul, has changed my life and way of thinking completely. It's amazing how He works, it's actually spectacular! Thinking back at my life now, I wouldn't want it any other way.

Are you listening to Him and letting Him guide your path day by day? You can't physically see Him, but if you concentrate and really look around, you can see Him everywhere.

Hi Ted, thank you for commenting on my article, I'm glad you liked it. It took me a while to figure things out actually, I'm 26 and I just got saved last October. After Jesus saved me, I just felt so happy, overwhelmed with love, etc.. and all I wanted to do since is learn more about Him. I've been doing a lot of reading and studying the bible. I also have a lot of christian friends that have shared some things with me. Since October 2007, I've just learned how awesome God is, and believe it or not, I believe He is giving me a lot of the words I need to write a good article. I really trust in Him to help me.

There is nothing like coming into God\'s will for your life to make you feel that completeness that we humans are always seeking and striving to find. There isn\'t anything in this world that can fulfill that void except for a relationship with Jesus Christ and knowing our heavenly Father who created us. Great article, and happy that you have found what so many people are looking for and at such a young age. May God bless you in all you do.

Amen and amen to your article on your \"inspired\" life Stephany !
I too agree that often when things look the most bleak in our lives, that is when God is doing a great work in us. We walk \"through\" the valley and back up to the mountain top. We don\'t stay in the valley...we persevere, we TRUST, we SURRENDER (not at all the same as giving up ), and we especially PRAISE Him in the worst of times, because He is always there and He will make our paths straight. Looking back on my life I realize that the curves are only there when I tried to take the reins. When I allowed God to lead and I followed then my path was straight. Being a \"disciple\" of Christ has a lot to do with \"discipline\". Being obedient even when we don\'t \"feel\" like it . I\'m still working on that but as I seek Him in prayer and through His word I continue to grow and know which road to travel. The more I can stay in His word the more He shows me, and it\'s an exciting journey when God is our only compass !
Thanks for sharing and keeping us all uplifted and excited about our faith !

This testimony is very uplifting. I got saved when I was a teenager and I have been blessed so wonderfully by God. The journey though has never been so smooth and easy. I have gone through a lot as well. It is always great to find a fellow believer here on Triond, and anywhere.God bless.
