Did you ever sit back and just think about all the things you are thankful for in your life? I was thinking about this recently and I came to the conclusion that a lot of times we harbor all the bad things that are going on in our lives, instead of focusing on the good things that happen. Thinking back, I realized that I did that a lot in the past, and by focusing on the bad all the time it made my life unhappy.
When I started having a relationship with Jesus, I noticed myself slowly changing. It's so awesome how He can just change lives by taking over the way we think. I think He does it for one, because He loves us and wants us to see things differently in our lives, and two, because He wants us to live our lives for Him and His glory, and in return we are promised everlasting life forever. I have a feeling that if we start thanking Him for everything in our lives that we are happy about or thankful for, in return we will consume more of Him, and our thoughts will slowly change into things that are good. If we always keep our minds on the horrible things that are going on in our lives, it, without a doubt, will make us more depressed and unhappy in the long run.
I remember times of feeling so depressed , and not knowing what to do about it, that eventually that is all I saw. I saw how everything wasn't going the right way, or I saw the people around me in a different way instead of seeing the good things about them. Now, I catch myself thanking God for even the small things around me, like the warm sun that day, or for letting my flowers bloom this spring, and even for the wonderful people that He put in my life. I could think of so many things to be thankful for everyday that I couldn't even say them all at one time.
I hope this passage will touch some hearts out there, and that maybe we could try keeping our eyes on Jesus, and our thoughts on the good things around us, so that we can live life to the fullest everyday.
