Remember the Sabbath Day is a revelation related to man. It is a demand for mankind as God does not need a Sabbath. This commandment is not necessary a law as thou shall but a state of rest for the mind, body, and soul. When God said remember the Sabbath, He realized that man does not know what is good for him to preserve life so He added it as part of the Decalogue (Ten Commandments).
If there is no rest in your life, you are trying to be God. You become the great I AM trying to make it all on your own. You will make every attempt to be God by working harder and harder just to get the things of this world but instead you end up dead. As humans, we tend to overwork ourselves just to satisfy the world. We rather satisfy time for money. Remember, we cannot impress God with things.
The relationship God exemplified when He rested on the Seventh Day is giving mankind a chance to see that the body will need rest. It means coming to a halt after six days of labor. This state of rest is to worship God, enjoy your family, and relax. God wants you to enjoy what you have accomplished. It is time to look at yourself and know that you are created in the likeness of Him. It is also a time to remind yourself of the glory of God and reflect on Him as to who He is. Further yet, it is a time to accept the painful death Christ Jesus bored for our sins and meditate on Him. Do not forget it is a moment to get enough rest in order for your body to be refreshed, so when you return to work, you are strengthened to take on a whole new task.
It is not a matter of which day you hollowed as the Sabbath. It is a primary principle established so that you do not destroy your life. It is a matter of living. God wants you to enjoy life and He wants you to take some time to enjoy it. It is very imperative to obey His demands because in the end you shall reap the penalties from not doing so. If you want to please God, do as He commands.
Do not let a particular day disturb you. Christ provided rest for us since our sins over burden us without any real rest. Christ provided the rest on the cross and we must make Him to be the only focus as we rest in Christ Jesus by worshipping God. Can you imagine giving God a full Day? It is quite necessary to give up a twenty-four hour span as a day of rest. Make it a day to relax and tune out the world or its distractions. Make it a day to rejoice in such a manner that it becomes holy unto you. Give the day a special touch knowing how important it is to you even if you only spend it with your family.
When you obey His commandments, so you can relive your life in Him, He is happy with you. God wants you to be free and He knows what is best for you. Refrain from criticizing the Sabbath where you refuse to take the time. Do not take it just to do whatever pleases you either. It is a day to rest in God.
There are blessings associated with God's demands. He is ready to bless each and everyone when they seek Him on His holy day. He wants that connection with you. His heaven is opened for your blessings to be poured out. You must remember He is your provision. Your need should be a relationship in Him. He will bless and provide for your every day. You must remember Him for His blessings. It is a matter for the world to see of His goodness.
Certain situations will not work out in your life until you choose to do things the right way. We must follow after His principles which are ideal for our living. Do not look at the spirit of the law so the day becomes more holy and you are not. As you honor each Sabbath as a memorial to God, you will grow in trust, commitment, and love towards God and others. Amen.
