By 1995, tragic experiences in my life had humbled me and prepared me to hear and understand the gospel of Jesus Christ. I met the missionaries and was taught and then baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I saw the honest and pure example of the missionaries and I wanted to live that way, too. One year after my baptism, I was called on a full-time mission to Seoul, Korea.
It was an honor to serve my people and teach them the gospel. I was the first and only man in my family to accept the gospel, so I have a great duty to my family as well as my own people. While I was a missionary, there were many difficult challenges, but I wouldn't give up and found that through hard work and the Lord's help, I could and did return with honor.
While I was serving as a missionary, I was able to learn how to love other people and, with the love of Jesus Christ, know how to resolve all concerns. Missionary work for me was a tremendous, life-shaping experience. After returning from my mission, I served many different callings in the Church. I learned that all callings have value and can bring wisdom. I learned that how you serve is more important than where you serve.
Because I love the Savior, I am striving to become like Him. The great desire of becoming like Jesus Christ is the power of gospel. You and I can change our own life through the gospel of Jesus Christ. We just need to love our God and neighbors and follow the Holy Ghost. God bless you.
