The Ten Commandments

This is a unique gender- neutral paraphrase of the Holy Bible, which uses the true name of Yahweh God and of Yeshua, the Christ, rather than the traditional manmade form Jehovah. It is a work in progress, so these are excerpts in a continuing series.

  1. I am Yahweh your God, You must not worship any other god, but Me.
  2. You must not worship anything else at all, but Me, For I, Yahweh your God am a jealous God, bringing judgment on the children for their parents’ sins to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love and obey Me.
  3. You must not use Yahweh God’s name with disrespect; for Yahweh will hold everyone accountable who misuses the name of God.
  4. Observe one day a week by keeping it holy as Yahweh God has commanded you; six days you may labor and do all you work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Yahweh God.
  5. Honor your parents as Yahweh God commands you, so that you have a long life and it goes well with you in the land God gives you.
  6. You must not kill anyone.
  7. You must not be sexually unfaithful.
  8. You must not steal from anyone.
  9. You must not tell lies about one another.
  10. You must not desire anything that belongs to someone else, not their spouse, nor their house, nor their land, nor their worker, nor their animal, nor anything else that belongs to your neighbor.

Perhaps you need to go back to Exodus 20 and read the fourth commandment again...The Hebrew is not "keeping one day a week" in describing the Sabbath...The words used for "keep it holy" are the same combination of words God used when He made the Sabbath...Read Genesis 2 from the Greek and you will see that it was "sanctified" or set apart for a holy use...

Even though you did correctly mention that the seventh day is the right day, you said it was "a Sabbath"...That is incorrect...It should be "the Sabbath", not a Sabbath...

Good study though, and I appreciate your time and effort...This is not a course in Hebrew, but you are pretty close to "right on target"...
