The Truth About Uncontrolled Anger

Are you a person who quickly reacts and retaliates? Or are you a cool headed person who handles things in a discreet manner? Here are some insights about anger management.

People normally get angry as a result of frustration, irritating situations, or millions of other reasons. To feel angry once in a while is to be human. But anger can be very dangerous when not controlled properly. It can cause us to do unreasonable things, destroy our relationships, and even damage our personal lives. We tend to say harsh and mean words when we are in an angry mood, causing people to turn away. And often, it is hard to put back what we have already said.

The Bible warns us about being angry without a cause. In Matthew 5:22, Jesus says that "he that is angry with his brother without a cause is in danger of the judgment". This means that we better guard our hearts when it comes to what we feel towards others. For eample, anger as a result of jealousy is not subject to the will of God.

For a practical point of view, uncontrolled anger is not good. Making decisions when you're mad is not advisable. Instead of making quick, irrational decisions as a result of anger, one must take some time to cool down and reach a state of mind wherein he or she can think properly. It is very easy to fall into the trap of impulsiveness and make our lives a total mess. Once the effects of uncontrolled anger sets in, it is hard and sometimes impossible to quell the damage.

So if you want to be wise and keen, one of the first things you need to work on is the way you handle your anger. Are you a person who quickly reacts and retaliates? Or are you a cool headed person who handles things in a discreet manner? Remember, it is not wrong to feel angry, it is what you do as a reaction to anger that makes the difference whether you will be a world class mess up or not.
