Most of us are really fascinated with spiritual things, especially the unusual phenomena. Take angels as an example. Angels do appear in media, in our daily lives as messengers of God who are in numbered of material disguises. They have changed, in popular culture just to accomplish their mission with subtlety and finesse. Mission accomplished, they returned to heaven where we consider it as a world of a better place.
The point of role play for popular portrayals of angels is usually the power of human person to decide on his own destiny. For the fact that Catholic teaching has always acknowledged the essence and reality of the spirit world, but our point of reference is not man, but God. The Catholic approach to angels begins with the truth that in our created world there are things visible and visible, as we profess our faith every Sunday. Our spirits revealed the things that are visible or tangible. Things that are intangible are the spiritual aspect of the Creation, usually elude the sense yet make connection with us nonetheless.
The Scientific account and technological adversaries have become the standard for our daily life. Yet aspects of modern culture that are fixed on the world of invisible and spiritual forces indicate that the limits of the physical world do not answer the deepest longings of the human heart. A person is more than a mere matter. We are composed of body and spirit.
In other words, we cannot make any sense of our life on our own. We have to look to our beginning, our origin. We must turn to God, who is invisible and intangible, to find meaning and purpose of life the created universe. As the Bible and Church doctrine teachings, the world is “brimming with spiritual beings,” and the existence and influence of angels form a major help on our way to have an eternal life.
Since the angels are God's creation and messengers, we come to know our Creator as we come to know them. Since Jesus, in the mystery of His Incarnation, is the prime messenger of God, all angelic activity leads to flows from our Lord Jesus Christ.
Angels participates in that of Jesus and His church. Ever God's disposal, angels are commissioned to do whatever he asks of them. Because of their readiness to obey God's will, they inspire us to adopt a similar spiritual disposition. Angels were made as part of God's plan for the salvation and perfection of the world.
Are there any job description about the angels? In the Judeo-Christian belief, angels are ministers and messengers. They communicate the holiness of God to us by their countless adoration before the kingdom of God. Angels carry God's messages to us, as what Angel Gabriel did at the Annunciation or the angelic warning to Joseph in a dream.
Angels guide us, protect us, and defend us in many ways. The Scriptures relates that on the Day of Judgment, angels will separate the wicked from the just.
By God's angels, God calls us to have deeper faith, hope, and charity. They are our friends as well as the intimates of God. They can protect and intercede for us. Our spiritual horizon must include these marvelous creatures who reveal the hidden depths of God and His creation.
There are lot of angels out there, roaming around and guiding us to the right path. Maybe the one who seated beside you is one of them. Keep the faith, believe in angels.
