Mr. Warren Benis of the New York Times Book Review says, "The secret of success is not what they taught you in school. What matters most is not IQ, not a business school degree, not even technical know-how or years of expertise. The single most important factor in job performance and advancement is emotional intelligence. It is actually a set of skills that anyone can acquire."
According to Mr. Daniel Goleman, in his book, Working with Emotional Intelligence, identifies five basic emotional and social competence such as the following:
Self-Awareness
Knowing what we are feeling in the moment, and using those preferences to guide our decision making; having a realistic assessment of our own abilities and well grounded sense of self-confidence.
Self-Regulation
Handling our emotions so that they facilitate rather than interfere with the task at hand; being conscientious and delaying gratification to pursue goals; recovering well from emotional distress.
Motivation
Using our deepest preferences to move and guide us toward our goals, to help us take initiative and strive to improve, and to persevere in the face of setbacks and frustrations.
Empathy
Sensing what people are feeling, being able to take their perspective, and cultivating rapport and attunement with a broad diversity of people.
Social Skills
Handling emotions in relationships well, and accurately reading social situations and networks; interacting smoothly; using these skills to persuade and lead, negotiate and settle disputes, for cooperation and teamwork.
The True Secret For Success Above All Else
To be rich in God than to be rich in goods
Do not cling to your riches or material possessions. Instead, use the same in gaining friends and helping others, for riches of this world is vain. Material wealth will vanish away even in a second but sweet are the treasures of God's love, they will live forever. Whether you believe it or not, love would be the only wealth that will last forever.
To love people and not things
Loving thy neighbor as thyself and not using them like a thing. Valuing people even those least in your perceptions and not taking them for granted for Jesus view each one of us as significant, acknowledging others as people worthy of respect and love. In fact, the greatest form of love, one can manifest for others, is giving of oneself for the welfare of the other.
According to Brennan Manning, “A Christian who doesn't merely see but looks at another communicates to that person that he is being recognized as a human being in an impersonal world of objects.”
God promised to give us success if we only take heed of His Words of Wisdom in the Scriptures. Therefore, we just have to trust in God, to believe in Him and move forward.
