Faith is a virtue that God likes. According to the Bible, we cannot please God without it. When a person has faith, he or she has a clear cut objective or a definite request to God, and he believes that he will receive an answer.
However, in our Christian life, we need to realize that that we do not get quick answers from God always. Some prayers are answered overnight, other prayers take longer periods of time before we get results. This is where Hebrews 11:1 comes in: "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen". Faith is always accompanied by hope. In Romans 8:25, the scripture says that "if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it".
To summarize, faith is the process of believing on things unseen, hoping that we will receive it, and waiting on God until the answer comes. The next time you have a prayer unto God, don't give up too quickly. Learn to mix patience with your faith and you'll get more answers from God. It has been said that God has three basic answers: Yes, No, and Wait. Don't stop believing and praying and hoping until you get either of those three signals. The fundamental thing that should drive our Christian living is the belief and affirmation that God is in control, no matter what happens.
