Closer Than Brothers

A interesting look at Moses' family tree.

I spend a lot of time reading the literal translation of the Bible. It's supposed to match the original Hebrew and Greek word for word. Here's a little interesting fact I unearthed in Genesis.

We are all told about the wonderful and miraculous life of Moses, how his mom spared him an early death and how he threw away a life of Egyptian luxury out of loyalty to his Jewish roots. We also know God anointed Moses' brother Aaron to be Moses' spokesperson. These brothers were close, but your Sunday School will probably never teach you how close they really were.

All with all the other notable acts, the brothers can add incest to their claims to fame. Aaron's mother was the sister of Moses' father. That's right. They pair were both brothers and cousins. With all the emphasis on obeying God's laws throughout the Old Testament, why is this glossed over? Surely it would help Moses' rep more if his murder rep were glossed over instead.

The laws of Torah bacame binding to the Jewish people only after they received the Torah at the Mt. Sinai. While the laws have been always observed by the Jewish people in spirit, however prior to giving of the Torah based on the circumstances people were permitted to upheld them.
