Day in, day out it seems I am constantly being approached by family, friends, strangers, whoever about my beliefs. Being a Pagan/Wiccan seems to scare them to no end, add on the fact I am also gay only intensifies it, but it is only because they don't understand, don't have the full scope.

Years of being mislead by certain Faiths and Hollywood have led to this constant persecution.

I hear remarks like, “You're Satanic, you sacrifice children, you belong to the Devil, your going to Hell” the list goes on. I have yet to find a spell that calls for the sacrifice of any living thing, much less children. Although I do recall a lot of animal sacrifices and a passage where someone was asked to prove their faith by taking their Son to a mountain and sacrifice him, now their God did stop him before he could follow through, it was only a test after all.

I have yet to find any such story with a request/test of this nature in my faith.

“Thou shalt not worship another God before me, I am a jealous God” another passage that seems to be thrown my way on a regular basis. I should point out the keyword here is Another, does this not prove there are other Gods? All these other religions are not so fake like it is led to believe. Then there is Jealous, is this not an emotion which has been associated with the Devil on more then one occasion? Makes me wonder... “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live” another line thrown my way too many times to count. If you are going to use it, then make sure you do your research, because as anyone who has read the Bible before it was tampered with can tell you this is not even in there. This particular quote was added by King James, who became upset with a woman, a midwife and for this or that reason refused to save his Queen. A line of pure revenge, nothing more. Do the research and you will see this is so.

“Man shalt not lay with another man” or something like that. What I find rather amusing about this one is the fact man is used. I have not been able to find anything in there about a woman laying with another woman, if there is one please by all means let me know and I will clarify it for you. We all know 95% of the male population has this fantasy of two women together, even if it is only to watch. So are you trying to tell me that God has this fantasy also? I don't think so, something else which was added because someone didn't get their way. Love in any form is the most beautiful, purest emotion we possess, the Bible is full of quotes about it: For God so Loved the world...the list goes on. You cannot actually make me believe God will condemn someone for loving somebody simply because they are the same sex, doesn't make sense.

Hell, another one which eludes me, being a parent myself I just don't see it. We are all God's children as the book puts it, but if you sin you will go to Hell and burn for an eternity in a lake of fire. My question is, wouldn't this be considered child abuse? I mean come on, yes there is repercussions for your actions, a punishment if you will, but a pit of fire? Come on, get real. I would never even dream of doing such a horrid thing to my kids and no God/Goddess I believe in would do it either. For every action there is a reaction, you will get back what you put out. This I strongly believe and apparently so does the Bible “you will reap what you sow” same thing if you ask me, just worded differently.

As it is stated, you are not supposed to worship any image, then please explain to me why 99 % of the churches have either a statute, painting or both in their buildings. Most of the time not even a loving image, but one of pain and torment “the Crucifix” I really don't see that as a loving emblem, but one based on fear and guilt the two main ingredients needed to Control. I myself have no problem with statues, paintings etc...we as human beings have a tendency to let our minds wonder when we should be concentrating. The images are a focal point in my eyes, a way to keep you focused on the task at hand when you are paying homage to whatever Deity you choose to follow. I have to admit, none of mine display any kind of torture or fear though.

Some will argue that the Crucifix is just a reminder of the fact God gave his only begotten son to wash away our sins. Maybe, but aren't we all his children? If this is the case then why the constant threat of eternal damnation, haven't our sins already been taken care of? I understand absence tends to make us forget and we need to be reminded from time to time, but by the Gods is there not a more positive image which can be displayed? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for art and will be the first to admit a big fan of Horror, but some of the images I've seen depicted in a lot of churches nowadays cause even me to pause.
