The Judaeo-Christian and Islamic Religions have many differences in opinion, tradition, Legend, prophecy and myth. However, there is definitely one important thing that they all have in common: Angels!
How many Angels can you think of? Michael and Gabriel are obvious as they are the only two Angels mentioned by name in the Bible. They are also mentioned in the Koran. Can you think of any more? If you read widely on the subject you will know that there are thousands of them, from A'albiel - an Angel in the service of Michael - to Zuriel -Prince of the order of Principalities and ruler of the sign of Libra.
These Angels, all have stories to tell and specific jobs to do. They govern the elements, the signs of the Zodiac, the seasons, the months of the year, the days of the week and even all the hours of the day and night. Each of them has a special purpose also. For example, if a dear friend or relative is taken ill, a prayer to the Archangel Raphael - the Angel of Healing and medicine - is the best way to hasten recovery. However, if your feline familiar has taken ill, a prayer to the Archangel Michael - Angel of Justice, courage and protection - would be far more appropriate as he is also known as the patron guardian of cats. To sum it up, Prayer, summoning and invocation of any Angel (who is appropriate for your intended goal) can support and strengthen your spells and incantations significantly.

There are many spells that can be cast with the invocation of Angels for different situations, as long as you know what attracts them and when the best times are. For this article I shall cover some basic incantations that attract the aid of the seven Archangels: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Zedkiel, Chamuel and Jophiel.
There are not really any set methods for any kind of magic. Spells are created based on how the individual sees and interprets the world around them and its properties. Whatever works for you will serve your purpose if you believe it will. However, it is sometimes essential to know some basic rules and associations. There are various times, colours and properties that attract the attention of the Angel you wish to summon. In my experience, I have found that preparing an altar for your Angel is the best way to get their attention although this is not entirely necessary.
For those of you who do wish to communicate with angels on a regular basis or even just occasionally, I would highly recommend setting up an altar for the Archangel Zadkiel (the Angel of communication). He will strengthen your ability to communicate with all Angels and ensure that you are fully aware of all messages you receive, whatever form they may take. He rules the day of Saturday and his colours are green, white and azure. Use these colours when making your altar. You can use candles, ribbons, crystals, meaningful trinkets and anything you like. A prayer to him will prepare you for future contact with other angels.

Michael is the Archangel of justice, marital matters, courage and protection. He governs the Earth signs of the Zodiac: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn and the element of Earth. He also rules the day of Sunday and the planet Mercury. The colours associated with him are orange, gold and white. So, if you find yourself in any situation that scares you or makes you feel unsafe, be it personally, professionally or academically; then set up an alter using orange, gold and white candles, ribbons and crystals. Cinnamon joss sticks may also be used to attract Michael's attention. When your altar is set, just pray to him, tell him what the problem is and ask for his help.
If you do choose to use altars to contact your desired Angel then it is advisable to change its properties to suit that Angel:
INSPIRATION
When you feel uninspired contact Gabriel (Angel of resurrection, creativity, domestic matters and achievement of plans), He rules the day of Monday and the Moon. The altar should have silver, white and blue candles, crystals and ribbons with perhaps a challis of water to attract his attention; as he also rules over the water signs of Cancer, Pisces and Scorpio.

HEALING
When you are in physical or emotional pain and need help to recover you should contact Archangel Raphael (Angel of healing and wisdom). He rules the day of Wednesday and the sun. He also rules the fire signs of Leo, Sagittarius and Aries. As such, he is also known to support those born under these signs at times when their qualities of passion and enthusiasm have deserted them. His altar should consist of yellow, white and grey colours. Large candles or a small challis fire would be appropriate for this one.
SUCCESS
When your personal or professional situations look bleak, contact the archangel Uriel (Angel of energy). He rules the day of Thursday and the air signs of the zodiac: Aquarius, Gemini and Libra. To those born under these signs he is known to help clear their minds and help to turn failure into success. He will help you to find the open window when a door in your life has closed. His colours are violet, white and indigo. So, as before, set up suitable alter for him using these colours and perhaps an essential oil burner or a wind chime.
INSECURITY
Contact Archangel Chamuel (Angel of love and adoration) if you feel insecure about yourself or have trouble opening up to other people. Chamuel will help to increase your ability to love others and yourself. As your insecurities begin to wane, others around you will begin to love you too. An altar made with the colours pink, white and red will attract this Angel's attention.
CREATIVITY
Finally, if you are the creative type such as an author or artist and all inspired and creative ideas have run dry, or your dreams have failed to become a reality, contact the Archangel Jophiel (Angel of creativity). He will help you to discover the creative ideas that lie dormant within you and help to make your visions and dreams become reality. His colours are yellow, white and orange. Set up an altar with these colours to attract his attention and gain his assistance.
If you do decide to create an altar for your Angel, remember to set it in a quiet and peaceful part of your home be it a bedroom or even your garden. This will allow you to focus your mind on what you wish to ask of your Angel.
