Faith Systems

Different religions have evolved from people's desire to understand the meaning of their life and their place in the universe.

Cultures express their beliefs in many different ways, reinforcing faith with the ritual of worship.

Top Six Faiths

Christianity

Christians believe in historical figure called Jesus. They believe that, as the son of God, he brought teachings that were validated by his resurrection from the dead.

Islam

Islam preaches that there is only one God, Allah. His followers, Muslims, study codes set out in the holy book Quran, a divine text distilled by Prophet Mohammed.

Hinduism

Hindus worship many Gods which reflects belief in life's diversity. Believers who live good lives are born again into a higher life.

Buddhism

Siddharth Gautam, the Buddha was a historical figure who taught that desires are the cause of all sufferings. Many different forms of Buddhism exists.

Sikhism

Sikhism originated in Punjab area of India and was founded by Guru Nanak Saheb. It is based on a unity of Gods as taught by ten Sikh gurus who established Sikhism.

Judaism

The oldest living religion is based on the one God as revealed in the Hebrew Bible. Its followers, the Jews, have a mission to transmit God's message.

The one thing common among all religion is that all of them preach Love!

However not all of them practice love or tolerance for other religions. Only those of the same faith.

I have always wanted to have s nice simple guideline to help me distinguish between the different religions.

Thank you for this excellent article. I like learning about all religions. Your last sentence says it all.
