Here, I refuse to argue these facts about religion, rather each individual is expected to study and meditate on the questions posed for personal reflection. The purpose of this researched article is to share some with the scriptures viewpoint of this topic. I hope each reader will take the time to read the scriptures by which the steps are based.
- On what are its teaching based? Think about different religions and compare:
From where are the teachings? God or man. 2 Timothy 3:16, Mark 7:7
Ex. Ask, does the bible say that the human soul is immortal? Psalms 6:4,5
- Consider whether it is making known the name of God. Jesus said in prayer to God: "I have made your name manifest to the men you gave me out of the world." (John 17:6)
Ex. Ask, Has your religion taught you that name? Matthew 4:10
- Is true faith in Jesus Christ being demonstrated? True religion has such faith that is accompanied by works. James 2:26
Ex: Ask, Do you and others in your congregation personally share in the work that Jesus assigned his followers? John 3:36;
- Is it largely ritualistic, a formality, or is it a way of life? Isaiah 1:15-17
Ex: Ask, Do ones in my congregation uphold the Bible's standard of morality and clean speech instead of going along with popular trends? 1 Corinthians 5:9-13
- Do its members truly love one another? John 13:35
Ex: Ask, Do members in this religion set themselves as being truly different?
- Is it truly separate from the world? John 15:19
Ex: Ask, Can it be said that those whose clergy and others members are involved in politics, or whose lives are largely built around materialistic and fleshly desires are separate from the world? 1 John 2:15-17
- Are its members active witnesses of God's kingdom? Matthew 24:14
Ex: Ask, Has your religion equipped you to share in the activity of sharing this work? Matthew 10:7; Acts 5:42; Acts 20:20
