Did you know that in Canada a person can actually go to jail for expressing what is considered to be a "negative comment" regarding homosexuality? This article is not about homosexuality or any other form of sexuality but that little fact is one that I find both surprising and shocking. I'm not talking about outright bigotry or hate crimes here, I'm referring to one person telling another that he or she does not personally believe that people need "equality" in their sexuality. In other words, if you go to Canada, no matter your personal opinions on the matter, you must always agree with every single word a homosexual person says. Wow. What a wonderful world we live in when we cannot even have a personal opinion anymore.
There is a book by Josh Macdowell called, "The New Tolerance". In this book he tells us that in today's world there are no absolute standards and everything's tolerable. Did you catch that word, tolerable? "Tolerance is the last virtue of a depraved society", says Dr. D. James Kennedy, the preacher who always tells it like it is and pulls no punches. When you stop and think about it, the tolerance issue can really only reach so far and no further. If you tolerate everything, eventually you will have to stop tolerating something in order to continue to tolerate everything else. That's sort of a crazy way of saying that I'll tolerate you if you are a drug dealer but I will not tolerate you if you're an alcoholic.
Tolerance, by the way, is what caused the Jewish Holocaust during World War 2. First they stopped tolerating the Jews, then they persecuted them, then they imprisoned them and stole their belongings, then they systematically tortured and killed them in the Nazi death camps. What I ask is this: Why did they feel a need to stop "tolerating" the Jews in the first place? Why not find the Pygmies intolerable? Why not the Russians? Why not the Americans? The reason is simple, in order to tell the world how tolerant you are, you must omit at least one group from the list. That way the whole world will know just exactly what you actually tolerate.
In our modern world we are constantly being taught that there is no truth, no moral absolutes, no universal truths, and the only things that really matter are the individual's feelings and opinions. Huh. That's interesting, considering that my opinions and feelings are scarcely tolerated. Hmm, must be that my group, the Born again Christians, are the ones being omitted from the "acceptable" group. Every other opinion on the planet is tolerable except for those belonging to the Christians. We alone are not allowed a voice in government and in the popular "issues" of the age, such as abortion, homosexuality, and tolerance. Apparently, whoever decided that only the individual's opinions were right,---was wrong.
Tolerance nearly drove Albert Einstein insane. Even in his day, people were shouting that everything's tolerable, everything's relative. His reaction? "Relativity has to do with Physics, not morality." He hated it when people used his theory of relativity to explain away the decline of morality in the world of that era, because Albert Einstein had a sense of moral values and he realized that they were definitely not relative. But then again, many people today have the concept that "what I do is what I am", and therefore, there is no need for moral values, which simply disintegrate like dust under your feet. When you are taught that every moral or immoral situation is just fine, you are being brain-washed into following the crowd right into yet another holocaust-like situation. It was the Jews last time, who will it be this time? Little Amish girls?
That gunman with a hatred for little girls could have walked into any school in the country and turned his gun on children, but he didn't choose just any school, he chose an Amish school, a one-room school-house where he took girls and lined them up against the wall and shot them. Did he shoot teenagers who waltz around half naked, with their skimpy little outfits, showing more skin than they hide? No. He shot little girls who wear bonnets and full-length dresses and reveal nothing. The gunman was a pedophile, who used to molest little girls twenty years ago. Suddenly the urge to molest was upon him again, and he apparently decided that the girls were to blame for it. But then why would he shoot girls who dress modestly and plainly? Intolerance, that's why. He was expressing his tolerance for the girls who dress like street walkers, by shooting dead the children of the plain people.
I agree with the general point of the article. Also like the Dr. Kennedy quote, but I'm not sure he'd still be with you when you start talking about the other gospel of free willism. He's not an arminian.
