The Religious Right Leaders Need A Trip To The Woodshed
by texxmezz, Nov 14, 2006
A new bombshell has surfaced regarding the Ted Haggard scandal: the leaders for the Religious Right have known for quite some time Haggard was gay, but they didn't remove him from his position as president of the National Evangelical Association. Should we be placing our trust and following leaders who do not adhere to Biblical standards?

What the Bible would look like without fish?
by texxmezz, Nov 14, 2006
I sat in bed the other night reading from Luke's gospel when something tickled my brain. In chapter five, Peter makes his great confession of sin, "depart from me...", but we often overlook what he is doing. I heard the Spirit ask, "What would the Bible look like without fish?"

Diane Sawyer’s Big Slip!
by texxmezz, Nov 13, 2006
Diane Sawyer made one heck of a slip today on Good Morning America when she referred to the monuments on the Washington DC Mall as being the "Pantheon of heroes". I am convinced she does not know what the word "pantheon" means, or else she was speaking blasphemy!

You Can Have It All, But Why Would You Want To?
by texxmezz, Nov 11, 2006
Elizabeth Vargas of ABC has returned from maternity leave this week. Her experiences as a new mom made her ask, "can working mothers have it all?" That's the wrong question to ask. "Why would you want it all?" is the one I'd ask. Too much time filling your life with countless tasks leaves you little or no time for Father God.

Tears for Ed Bradley
by texxmezz, Nov 10, 2006
Veteran CBS newscaster Ed Bradley died Wednesday evening in a New York City hospital of complications from leukemia. When asked how he'd get into heaven, he said he'd ask St. Peter if he had seen the piece Bradley had done on Lena Horne. Do people go to heaven by being good and doing a lot of good works? I can only hope Ed Bradley was joking around for the camera, as those words have become his epitaph.

Dr. Dobson Has His Priorities All Wrong
by texxmezz, Nov 10, 2006
Dr. James Dobson has made quite a mistake by turning his back on Ted Haggard and removing himself from the counseling team. Jesus said, “No one has greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Has Dr. Dobson chosen mammon over friendship?

“…but for the Grace of God, go I” A Christian Nightmare, starring Ted Haggard
by texxmezz, Nov 7, 2006
Although the Christian religion has too many TV evangelistic wolves in sheeps’ clothing and the church desperately requires a flea dip instead of lamb chops on table, it is never truly good news when a wolf is exposed. It never is about one man, it becomes a scathing indictment against an entire religion; Satan gloats and giggles with delight. Christians routinely hide behind a mask of perfection, and that’s much more than just the sin of pride.

Demonizing Muslims is the last thing a Christian should do
by texxmezz, Oct 29, 2006
It is so fashionable to demonize a Muslim or Arab, but is that the right thing to do? We're called to be lights in a dark world, not doors with deadbolt locks. As long as we decide Muslims and Arabs are "no good terrorists", Jesus' love does not shine in us or for them.

Creationism: Why you don’t need science or the Old Testament to prove it’s true
by texxmezz, Oct 15, 2006
Few Biblical subjects generate more heated debate than creationism; this is true even amongst professing Christians. As I sat down with a Christian brother for a chat on creationism, I realized one doesn't need to study science and fossil records in order to debate; they only need to look to the New Testament to prove what the validity of the Old Testament account.

Forgiveness and Second Chances: Why do Christians withhold them?
by texxmezz, Oct 14, 2006
Christians believe they are good at "forgive and forget" doctrine, but the reality proven once again with Mel Gibson is, we're not. We're even worse when it comes to giving a person a second chance. Doesn't this go against the Lord's statement in Matthew 18:21-22 about how many times we should forgive? Why do Christians refuse to forgive others who have haven't wronged them? Finally, what can children teach us about this subject.
